Gain hands-on, foundational instruction in one of San Antonio's most in-demand heritage trades. This one-week intensive course — taught by a master craftsperson with deep roots in historic construction — introduces participants to the repair, restoration, and rehabilitation of pre-1960 buildings and their materials.

Over the course of the week, you'll learn how older structures were built and adapted over time, explore the key differences between historic and modern construction methods, and get acquainted with the essential tools and materials of the trade. Specific assemblies of historic buildings, such as wood windows, may be used as case studies for applying broad preservation carpentry techniques.

Whether you're a homeowner, an existing contractor looking to expand your expertise, or someone considering a path in the preservation trades, this course offers a meaningful entry point into the craft.

Spots are limited and open on a space-available basis. Priority is given to participants enrolled through the full Living Heritage Trades Academy Pre-Apprentice Certificate Program through our partner Family Service. Please contact our team with questions prior to enrollment and to confirm dates + availability.
