Amazing Preservation Race for Kids 2025
APR Kids is July 26, 2025, at Hemisfair!
7:30 am check-in
8 am race starts
$5 per child participant. Ages 3 years to 12 years old.
Please have one parent/guardian for every four children.
The City’s Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) invites you to channel your inner superhero and face off at the Amazing Preservation Race for Kids (APR Kids) The race is a fun, place-focused scavenger hunt for the whole family that explores San Antonio's history and architecture. Join us and discover the many hidden treasures of Hemisfair! Racers will be given a passport with a map leading them to a series of fun and interactive challenges including an archaeological dig, tower building, and gondola race.
Event Details
Check-in opens at 7:30 am.
Race starts at 8 am.
Parking: There are several lots available around Hemisfair. Reference the Hemisfair website for parking location and parking prices. This site also shows directions to the park and how to access via public transportation.
Registration/race start location: Central Games Plaza @ Hemisfair (view on Google Maps)
At registration, kids will receive their race packet, which includes a race passport and t-shirt. The shirts are color-coded by age group: kids ages 5 and under will receive one color shirt and kids ages 6 to 12 will receive another color shirt. An adult guardian must remain with your racer at all times. All event staff will be wearing t-shirts identifying them as either City staff or volunteers. Once your party has completed the race, you may continue enjoying the park and continue your day. The Yanaguana Garden has a splash pad and Paleteria San Antonio will open at 11 am if you want to enjoy a refreshing treat after the race!
